nokia x with motog's

Moto G vs Nokia X

Does Nokia's X smartphone have what it takes to dent Moto G's popularity as a value for money buy? KYMI compares the handsets

Motorola is certainly well on its way to making a name for itself as a formidable player in the smartphone arena with the G but it is not the only one. Nokia is hoping to re-enter the fray in a big way too, armed with its brand new X handset. Which is the better buy of the two? We find out.
  • Form
Moto G: 129.9 x 65.9 x 11.6mm, 143g
Nokia X: 115.5 x 63 x 10.4mm, 128.7g
The build quality of both the phones is pretty much as expected, considering that they are affordable devices. They may not boast of top grade materials but they are sturdy enough for everyday use. We also like the fact that both the handsets come with a range of colour options.
Where the Moto G is larger, thicker and heavier, the Nokia X is sleeker and lighter and that much easier to carry around and use. We also appreciate the Nokia X's more angular corners, they lend the handset a certain oomph factor.
Nokia wins this round with its Lumia-like design and colours and the X's sleeker build.
Winner: Nokia X
  • Display
Both Motorola and Nokia have given their handsets IPS LCD screens. The Moto G packs in a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a pixel density of 326ppi. The Nokia X sports a 4-inch set up with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and a pixel density of 233ppi.
Imagery on the Nokia X is clear and sharp enough for everyday use but the one on the Moto G boasts of rich, bright colours and vibrant contras. The Moto G wins this round with its gorgeous display.
Winner: Moto G
  • Processor
A quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 ARM Cortex-A7 1.2 GHz processor powers the Moto G along with a 1 GB RAM. The phone is speedy and efficient and as KYM found, has no trouble even handling graphically intensive games.
