It seems that Samsung has no intention of investing much time in improving its galaxy Tab range of tablets. The new generation of the Galaxy Tab series would have to settle for the mildly effective and mid-range software updates, seeing that the Galaxy note family is officially Samsung’s top notch line up to receive the special privileges. That statement applies particularly to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, which receives the S4 inspired design features and Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2. A reason for the older version of the Android OS being used could be the introduction of the new Marvell chipset. This makes it the only tablet in the Galaxy Tab 3 line up to be deprived of the latest version of the OS. In the review, we will try to figure out whether the implementation of the new Marvell chipset is a real upgrade or otherwise. From the looks of it, Samsung has clearly put more work on the exterior design of the tablet as the interior hardware is mostly unchanged.

Key Features

  • Features a 7 inch TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen with a WSVGA resolution of 600*1024, 16M colours.
  • Runs on the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system
  • Runs on the new Marvell chipset clocked at 1.2 GHz with Power SGX540 graphics accelerator with 1 GB of RAM.
  • 3 MP rear autofocus camera with 720 p video recording at 30 fps. Front facing camera is 1.3 MP for video calling.
  • 8 GB and 16 GB internal memory option with micro SD card slot for memory expansion.
  • SIM card support for 3G connectivity.
  • 4000 mAh battery for 7 hours of battery life on continuous video playback..
  • Bluetooth 3.0, 30 pin connector, Adobe Flash Player 10.1 support.
  • Dis advantages

  • The display resolution is the same as Galaxy Tab 2.
  • Runs on the old Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, where other tablets in the series have the latest Android versions.
  • The new Marvell chipset is yet to prove a point in the tablets market.
All these specs are not high end by no stretch of imagination, but the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 will certainly appeal to the budget conscious consumers in the market. The support for voice calls is one feature that sets apart the tablet from the other 7 inch tablets. Another important feature in the tablet that can be its reason for selling is the high quality build of the tablet. The more compact and lightweight design of the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 will definitely attract users of the Galaxy Tab 2 series into upgrading to the latest from Samsung
